Wondering what it’s like to work with Galt Foundation? Or how the hiring process works? In this blog post, learn more about who we are, what makes us different from other staffing agencies, and why we’re proud to be one of the world’s largest employers of people with disabilities.
In 1998, Galt Foundation was founded as a non-profit organization committed to helping people with disabilities find opportunities for employment. Galt Foundation combined the knowledge of our founders running a successful for-profit staffing agency and added a focus on the vision that everyone can be valued for their abilities in the workplace.
Since then, we’re proud to have employed more than 25,000 people, making us one of the largest staffing organizations of individuals with disabilities in the world. More than that, Galt Foundation is committed to creating a better workplace – where people of all abilities can find successful employment and employers have access to skilled and motivated workers.
Read on to learn more about how we bring our mission and vision to life.
How is Galt Different?
Our mission is to provide, promote, and expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities. We do that by caring deeply about a world that is equitable, accepting, and full of opportunities, and we work towards creating that world every day.
Unlike some other non-profit organizations, our business model is completely sustaining. All of our revenue is generated by providing service to our clients, not donations – meaning that we succeed when our employees and clients succeed.
We also ensure all employees get the support and coaching they need. It’s important to us to build relationships with our employees, so we can better understand a candidate’s skills, abilities, and interests. Once we find a position that fits, we don’t simply disappear – we continue to offer assistance and coaching.
Qualified employees also have access to health insurance options; a valuable benefit that isn’t always offered at traditional staffing agencies.
What’s it Like Working With Galt?
When it comes to answering the question of what it’s like to work with us, it helps to hear from people who have been through the process. Alexis shares how we work closely with each employee, which is helpful for people who may have concerns about re-entering the workforce. And our flexibility and ability to accommodate challenging situations helped Lydia successfully find employment.
What we hear from our employees is that we help them find work quickly. But perhaps most importantly, we’ve been in our employees’ shoes before, so we understand the specific challenges people with a disability encounter when gaining and maintaining employment. Our goal is to help people feel seen and heard, not overlooked. In Lydia’s own words: “People are people. We all want to be treated with respect, regardless of what’s going on in our lives.”
How Does the Hiring Process Work?
After submitting your resume, there are just a few more steps before we match candidates with the right placement. Disability qualification help us make sure that we are serving those in the disability communities, and skill assessment help us better understand an employee’s work preferences and abilities. Orientation and a one-on-one interview give us the opportunity to get to know each candidate better. Then, once we’ve determined an individual’s preferences and availabilities, the job matchmaking can begin!
To ensure it’s a perfect match, we take the time with each new employee to offer support and mentorship, if needed. We also invest a significant amount of effort in building relationships with our clients, so that we can understand their needs and ensure we provide employees that are the right fit.
What Opportunities are Available?
We work in both the public and private sectors, to provide jobs in industries like accounting, healthcare, light industrial, and everything in between. That means there’s a position to suit all abilities, regardless of prior education or work experience. Interested? Explore our current job opportunities.
