Food Service Worker 3 

Pay: $19.42hr 

Schedule: varies Mon-Fri-up to 40 hours a week 

 

Job Overview 

Provide a brief, four-sentence description of the role, what success in the position looks like, and how it fits into the company or organization overall. 

Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Consists of prepping and serving food, drinks, etc. We also have a Café and Coffee shop that they could possibly work out of too, depending on the day or need. Essentially, they would be what we call a Float Pool –  Food Service Worker that would be trained in all areas of the Hospital to prep and serve food and beverages in different areas of the hospital. 

  • Prepares simple foods and beverages according to standardized menus, prescribed dietary menus, and recipes.  Ensure appropriate portions, textures, and dietary needs of each client are met. Ensures timely food preparation, service, and delivery. Prepares food items and special dietary snacks.  Adjusts quantities to eliminate excessive waste of food products. Uses various types of commercial kitchen equipment such as fryers, ovens, mixers, slicers, choppers, and espresso machines.  Prepares simple desserts. Slices and wraps bread and other baked items. Checks for proper temperature of foods.  Observes food to be sure it is visually appealing. Assists with all serving needs. Train’s patients and inmates in the methods and procedures of food preparing, serving, distributing, and cleaning in a dining or food service facility.  Checks work to ensure conformance with sanitation, safety standards, and work habits.   

  • Maintains adequate supplies for the serving line. Ensures that food pans are set-up and refilled. Serves food items on the serving line. Portion’s food items according to each prescribed diet orders. Checks diet change sheets for modifications to individual diets. Sets-up and refills condiments, dispensers, and food pans. May be assigned the role of checking trays to be sure staff members accurately follow diet orders. Caters activities and events. Follows safety protocol for kitchen utensils. Monitor and operate the cash register. 

  • Cleans all work areas, surfaces, equipment, and utensils.   Maintains required chemical storage, use, and handling. Stores all cooking and serving utensils accordingly. Follows standardized waste procedures. Ensures proper equipment maintenance by checking the general operation and efficiency of kitchen equipment and contacting service representative when equipment needs repair. 

  • Provides outstanding customer service to everyone. Completes work duties and tasks in an urgent manner and meets deadlines. Must be positively open to changes and feedback from others. Must be flexible and adhere to changes and feedback. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Food handlers Card-required 

  • 1 year of Food preparation/or sous-chef 

  • Reliability and Flexibility 

  •  Customer Service 

  •  Positive Attitude 

  •  Able to apply and adhere to directions 

  •  Reliable transportation to and from work
