Tumor Registrar (REMOTE)
Pay rate: $29.00/hour
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (20 hours per week – schedule agreed upon with onsite supervisor)

Tumor Registrar Job Overview:
The Certified Tumor Registrar is responsible for the review and detailed abstraction of cancer registry data from electronic medical records in compliance with state and national guidelines. The Certified Tumor Registrar is detail-oriented, committed to high-quality data abstraction, meets both quality and productivity standards, functions well independently, and works well under time constraints to ensure deadlines are met.

Tumor Registrar Job Duties: 

  • Collecting, reviewing, and maintaining tumor specific and demographic information related to each case that is diagnosed or treated in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Ensuring cancer case completeness by conducting follow-back for “death certificate only” reported cancer cases. They will assist in linking other sources of data with the death only records to obtaining information of reporting sources. Send notifications to hospital and non-hospital reporting healthcare facilities and track down additional cancer information to complete a cancer report.
  • Assist registry functions to consolidate reported cancer cases, review duplicate cases, case finding reportable cancer cases, abstracting cancer information from hospital records, cleaning data through edits and completing follow up for cases reported through death certificates.

 
Tumor Registrar Qualifications:
 

• A minimum of 1 year of current data abstraction experience with the Cancer Registries
• Cancer registry abstraction, data entry, and analysis
•Personal Computer with Windows 8 operating system or higher (you will need your own computer)
• High-Speed Internet Access (5 Mbps Download & 2 Mbps Upload speeds)
• Successful completion of pre-employment skills assessment exam
• A minimum of 1 year of current CoC Accredited Cancer Program experience – (Preferred)
• Candidate will comply with Client’s immunization policy to include proof of COVID-19 vaccination or medical or religious exemption

 
Certifications/Licenses/Degrees
• Must have current Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification
• A minimum of an Associate Degree in Health Information, or related field – (Preferred)

Other Skills:
• Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable
• Computer savvy with proficiency in EMR software and registry/database
• Abide by strict confidentiality regulations as defined by HIPAA and company policy
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), as well as highly organized, proficient time management and critical thinking skills
• Knowledge and understanding of the Commission on Cancer standards and accreditation process – (Preferred)
• Candidate will need to have advanced level Data Entry skills and intermediate level Microsoft Office Suite skills
